Gramps Coffee and Donuts

Gramps Coffee and Donuts celebrates a family tradition shared with the entire community. For decades, Dennis Gilmore–known as Gramps by his grandchildren - would mentor others while meeting in coffee and donut shops. His warmth and community support are carried on through his son and daughter-in-law (Greg and Amy) when they opened Gramps. At the heart of Gramps is the desire to provide the neighborhood with a warm and welcoming meeting place with good coffee and tasty donuts to share.

Come for the coffee, but stay for the artisanal handmade donuts with unique and tasty flavors named after grandpa phrases like "goodness gracious" and "back in my day." They have espresso, lattes, cold brew, milk alternatives, hot cocoa, and tea, plus the donuts get cheaper the more you buy all at once. How could you resist?

The Creme Coffee House

The Creme Coffee House is eccentric and ornate, like stepping through a time portal into an ancient mansion that happens to serve delicious coffee and confections.  You'll love the palatial ceilings, the dripping chandeliers, carved wooden cabinets, and miscellaneous antique chairs that decorate the front dining area. However, step into the back, and you'll pass through a fairy-light-strung back room into the beautiful brick-enclosed terrace with hand-painted murals on the walls and a cool deck for relaxing with friends.

It's a hot local hangout for a reason, but it is always quiet and relaxed, even when packed with coffee enthusiasts. They are also coffee artisans who will mix you something truly spectacular with a menu of coffee flavors and styles longer than your arm.

And did we mention that they serve a delicious brunch with sandwiches, pastries, and gourmet toast? Really, you simply can't go wrong at the Creme.

The Spot Coffee and Finery

"Weirdos Welcome" This is the greeting that defines The Spot Coffee and Finery, a spacious and unique space that blends Grandma's sitting room with a modern art gallery. Here, you'll find flavorful coffee, live music, local artwork, and cool people. The Spot strives to be uniquely awesome, and we think they've achieved it.

The walls are brightly painted, with dozens of paintings by local artists hanging across each expansive surface. The furniture is antique, with heavy carved wood and floral upholstery. There are weird little sculptures, a rack of collectible stuffed toys, and display cases of shiny rocks. And like any good coffee shop, there's free wifi. Naturally, we love it!

The coffee beans are small-batch roasted to order, fair trade, organic, and Rainforest Alliance certified sourced from only sustainable farming, and you can add all manner of flavors or switch it up for a fresh fruit smoothie. They serve small pastry bites, but there's no telling what will be in the display case, so come ready for adventure.

Kahawa Java

Kahawa Java is an absolutely delicious source for coffee and sweets. Founded by mother-daughter team Ticy and Ayanna, Kahawa Java was born and became one of our favorite places to get a quick cup of exquisitely flavored coffee. We absolutely adore the love that is brewed into every cup, the perfect blend of flavors, and the genuine human connection that comes from getting coffee at Kahawa.

The space is bright and open, inviting guests to put down their phones and have deep conversations over coffee and treats. The decor is simple and elegant, and the sweets are thoughtfully wrapped so you can pick up a few on your way past the glorious white marble counter.

Libertalia Coffee and Bagels

Libertalia is another unique take on the classic coffee shop, focusing on the delicious combination of coffee and a hearty bagel sandwich. There are breakfast bagels like the Long Islander with eggs and thick-cut bacon and serious lunch bagels like the Monte Cristo with Boar's Head Black Forest ham, turkey, egg, and maple bourbon cream cheese. There's even the Manhattan Pizza, made with pepperoni, sweet marinara, mozzarella, and hand-whipped Italian cream cheese.

As for the coffee, you can pair your bagel with a latte, espresso, drip coffee, cappuccino, americano, hot cocoa, matcha, and chai. Hot or iced, straight or flavored, and with milk substitutes. There are only a few tables, but the bagel sandwiches and coffees are also the perfect to-go breakfast or lunch.
